Gender Stereotypes

David Gauntlett argued in 2008 that makes in films are still stereotyped as 'traditional alpha males who dominate the action with violence
In 1975 Laura Mulvey argued women are used in films as: 'erotic objects of desire for the males in the narrative and the males in the audience.
Why do stereotypes work? Because they sell the product and represent the needs of the audience who want to be entertained.

a good example that fits these theories is death race: inferno

men in this are fully dressed, however the women are dressed seductively.
The men are blowing things up whilst the girls are sitting, staring at the men.
When you first meet men, the camera angle is low down, which gives men power
When you first meet the women, the camera angle is on their sexual parts.
